The Bocholt bridge forms part of the large infrastructure project “Kempen North South Connection” and crosses the Bocholt-Herentals canal near the town of Geel. The three-span road bridge has a bowstring superstructure for the main span, and continuous side spans. The two slender steel arches with radial flat steel hangers connect rigidly with the longitudinal steel girders of the composite deck structure at the intermediate piers. The composite deck is formed by hollow box main steel girders, open section steel cross girders and precast concrete slab panels joined with the steel girders by in-situ stitches at the girder positions.
