The 4-lane road bridge with footpaths on each side spans as part of a new expressway of the capital city Thimphu across the Thimphuchu river. The structure consists of a slencer concrete slab on steel composite girders, which are in the center span suspended from two steel arches by flat steel hangers. The pre-stressed and unstressed reinforced concrete slab is monolithically connected with the piers and the abutments. Without bearings and intersection structures that would require high maintenance efforts, a economic and robust structure was designed.
