The architect had conceived the idea of an ethereal spherical dome supported from a terraced substructure. The used concept makes it possible to form any free shape from members which are all equal in lenght, except at the periphery. Since the grid with quadrangle mesh is not really able to carry loads, the grid is stiffended by diagonal prestressed cables producing a triangular mesh geometry. Thus the load bearing behavior becomes that of an ideal membrale shell.
